Salmanazar (I think) from my friend's collection. Quite the sight I must admit, albeit corked!
2009 is a good vintage foot Medoc wines , deep red color with garnet hints , some deposits at the bottom , on the nose leathery, gamey , tobbaco box , followed by cassis , dried plum , black cherry and some dried green pepper ! On the palate the tannins are well integrated , luscious, rich , acidity is medium , nice minerality and finish on jammy cherries !
Deep red and good legs. Really good on the nose, blackberry, blackcurrant and just a touch of blueberry. On the palate a bit more restrained; blackcurrant in terms of fruit, but it is quite dry. The tannins do mellow after two hours open and it becomes a bit sweeter, which is surprising, as I would think this would be ready now. It doesn’t have the fruit that I might expect, but it does have good body, and it shows quality and is a good drink.
Nice rounded haut Medoc 2005 - a. It light but balanced and a great value for price paid. In Hong Kong this around HKG dollars 200 - a good value at large
