Cherry, cedar, and raspberry nose. Body is dry and balanced with smoke, Cherry, and blackberry. Some chocolate on the finish.

What 28 years does for a well crafted Bordeaux. A prune note and a full mouthfeel.  The structure is balanced with a long long finish

Beautiful; here in London so I just had to spoil myself with a nice Bordeaux.
Rich dark red to brown colour.
Nose is earthy, some fruit, wood and leather.
Palate is rich and wonderful; so many varietals in a Bordeaux that it is full and rich. No 1’ fruit left but rich chocolate, earth, leather, gamely meat.
Santé!

A classy Margaux drinking fabulously now and with a decade of life ahead. An elegant, finessed nose of perfumed violets, dry-aged beef, prunes, blackcurrant and leather that shows the typical graceful power of Margaux. The palate shows a happy balance of primary and tertiary notes, adding slight leafiness, stewed fruit, mocha and a forest floor of decaying leaves and mushrooms. This is in a good place now if your preference is for some remaining freshness of fruit, or will go gracefully for another 10 years.

A ton of nose and a fair amount of body. Black fruits, cherries , coffee in the body. Light bitter tannins. A beautiful Bordeaux like you imagine them.

Voluptuous Margaux of the great vintage. Mid ruby color , scents of red and black berries, earthy notes and black pepper. Velvet tannins and round rich chunky texture. Well balanced. Ready to drink but definitely has ageing potential. Medium long finish with silky mouth feel. Dinner at home. Perfect with rabbit but could be merely consumed with cheese. Really like it! Recently I could say I lean more to Margaux apelación.

Fully balanced full bodied tannic touch Mildly spiced and fruity.  Great pairing with meats. Had it at home on thanksgiving evening.

Lovely brownish red with a great mellow nose of spices, sweet berries, oak, and smoke. Hints of mild cured meat on the tongue with perfectly balanced tannins. Great complexity even though I wild prefer a little more edge. Is nearly too good if that makes any sense. Hits the spot, tremendous wine!

One of my favourite Margauxs in an excellent year for £80

The color is incredibly rich. An inky deep maroon with a Crimson rim. Aromas of blackberry, cedar, and plum.  Moderate acidity. Smooth tannin.

Light attack, acidity ++, light bodied, great length. Disappointing in terms of depth and complexity.
Great with light cheeses. A bit light.

Dark purple color of this Second Growth Bordeaux. A powerhouse of aromas, juicy black fruits and spice. Palate displays full ripe fruits, blackberries, cherries and berries, with a big tannin structure that will age well. The long finish showed some mineral notes on the end. Drinkable now but this one is for the long haul. Wait and you will be rewarded.

Qatar Airlines has the best wine list I've seen in a plane. I could not believe it, a 2010 Margaux Grand Cru Classe! Perhaps still young, but I'm not passing-up this opportunity. Deep ruby color. Intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry jam, leather and hints of vanilla. Absolute marvel in the palate! Dry, medium to full body, medium to high acidity and firm polished tannins. Chocolate and spice add to the complexity in this elegant old world wonder. The long lasting finish rounds-up this super-star!

Still bold notes even after 34 years. Excellent Bordeaux nose of leather, dark fruits, and tobacco.
The tannins have become very mild, and there is no acidity. The wind is beginning to brown somewhat, although it has been cellared well for 34 years. This is a very good wine, but it should be enjoyed within the next 5 to 10 years.

Ruby red with s touch of age, lovely perfumed bouquet with ripe red fruit and mint. Good acidity and length. A gorgeous feminine wine.

Tasted with 03, 06, 07, and 08. Wow, this is a great effort by Brane-Cantenac, really showing how far they have come...truly seeming like a 2nd growth in this vintage. Strong structure, dark berries, minty note, long finish...drinks great now with a couple hours of decanting and a nice steak, or could last 15 more years easily.

Masters of Wine 2014 Bordeaux Tasting. No detailed notes as too many wines
Love this wine but weaker than I expected from a good vintage

Vertical Rhythm (The Gossip) Bordeaux tasting 5/11: then we had mini vertical of Brane Cantenac, The 2006 (Lieven’s bottle) was a blend of 60% Cab S, 38% Merlot and 2 % Cab F that aged for 18 months in in new oak. It was served at 15,5°C and started with a greenish nose with some tea leaves, pencil shavings but as it got warmed up in the glass it became very elegant and balanced with layers and layers of ripe dark fruit, especially berries, espresso, tobacco and white pepper in the finish. A real treat!

Is it always wrong to lick the inside of a decanter?

This is a brilliant bottle of Bordeaux, proving once again that those who claim 'money doesn't make you happy' simply don't know which wines to buy. Deep ruby, rose perfume, the black fruit laced with coffee and nutmeg. Soft and feminine, full of flavour, complex and long. Blackcurrant and black cherry, prune and cranberry, clove and nutmeg, wet leaves and earth. Absolutely outstanding, and will presumably only improve over the next 15 years.
